Creating spaces
for dialogue

As an artist, diversity agent and educator, I add play elements and awareness to daily life through my art and interactions. Inspired by translation studies, animals and nature, I find ways to connect and make meaning in our shared environments. My artistic work is often process-based and it creates spaces and situations for exchange, dialogue, and transformations to occur and surprise all players. I am interested in creating projects that open up ideas and that engage the viewer; that invite the viewer to be a part of the narrative or art creation process. In translation, your participation continues to propel the story.

Happy Home Stay Residency Program

Picture
Mine and not mine. A workshop for caregivers / Mío y no mío. Un taller para cuidadores. Hosts: Kemê & María. At Hyvinvointitupa in Joutsa on November 10, 2024.
We work together in several initiatives revolving around the act of caregiving shaping and conditioning our practice and our identity as artists and cultural workers. Our collaboration entails organizing encounters and discussions with others, and dealing with many practicalities. In the process, we have found that between the demands of our profession and care relationships, as a team we sometimes end up having little room to connect and unpack the meaning of what we do, and how to do it better.

Arlene's residence provided us with a great environment for that reconnection, meeting our needs, and also helping us organise an activity to connect with others in Joutsa. It was a priceless opportunity to reflect and write about our experiences, both as caregivers and in our own need for care.

Hoping to come back and thankful!
